[heheheh!! I couldnt resist myself :V]

//Disclaimer, these are my thoughts on the subject and may not be agreed with by everyone. These are the things I have learnt over the past three weeks and may not cover everything. Remember I’m not an expert! I just wanted to help\

Okay! This goes out to all those new to running a chibi blog/ want to run one.

  • First: Know your character! Make sure you have a personal connecton with your character and try and think of what they would say in different situations.  Try watching episodes that feature that character, reading fanfictions or looking at headcanons that float around tumblr.  It’s fun! However, you can also interperate the character however you want.  As Howl is a fanon character, I was able to interperate him differently.  And the fact that he was a chibi made me want to turn him into an overly shy cute personality. If it’s a fan made character, then try to give them an interesting personality!  If you’re making a chibi blog that the character has many other blogs of, try and make yours stand out by using a different take on things!
  • Second: Style: The thing I like the most about the chibi blogs is that everyone has their own style. Different proportions, colouring, drawing methods.. But these things can also improve over time. So you don’t have to know exactly how you want it to look at first, or be the greatest artist. As an example, this is a comparison of my first submition to a couple of my frames three weeks later.

  • As you can see, the proportions are different, I decided to add colour to his clothes and sometimes he doesn’t wear his helmet. I’m also so glad I made this chibi blog because it has helped me understand more about how chibis are drawn XD The reason I draw with pixels (binary tool on sai) is because I hadn’t seen any other chibi blog do that for their LOK/ATLA character and also I hadn’t drawn with it before, so I thought it might be fun. There are also pencil settings on sai to make it look like it was drawn with a pencil/ crayon, and that would have been my second choice. So make sure you have your own style that will stand out be easily recognisable. Most Chibi blogs use the idea of the one colour for their character, but that doesn’t have to be used if you don’t want to.
  • Third: Presentation: Your answers don’t have to be gifs if you feel that is too hard or will take too long to answer questions. If making asks is a struggle and a bother then you will be less likely to be active on that blog. To make gifs you can use photoshop, or you can find some gif makers online (but those will most likely add watermarks to your pictures.) For your drawing program/ tools, any is fine! Just be aware that if you are using a mouse it may take a little longer. I think traditional answers would be good if you had a scanner! When answering the questions, I used to use a 500X600 canvas and paste the question in from a screenshot. But now I make a 500X500 canvas for my answer and add the screenshot of the question as a seperate photo in the ‘upload photo’ tumblr option. I find this way to be easier and gives a nice looking gap in between your question and answer. But it’s up to you for whatever you find the easiest! Also decorate your blog with things that relate to your character to make your page seem like a friendly and cosy place to be!
  • Fourth: Management: MAKE SURE YOU STICK TO IT! Keep your answers consistent so you are submitting things to a certain amount each week. If you are running low on asks, say so! Other chibi blogs will help you out and promote you. I guarantee it! Other fun things I’ve seen are ‘all questions sent today will be answered as if my character was drunk!’ and ‘send me headcanons/fanfictions’ etc.
  • Fifth: Make yourself known and Spread the love: My absolute favourite thing about the chibi community is how easy it is to make friends. Send other chibi blogs lots of questions to let them know you are there, and they will probably send you one back! It also helps for promotion and bAM you’ve got yourself a chibi family. Remember you can always promote others as well! Going to livestreams and starting your own streams is also a great way to communicate with others and simply hang out to chat. I also think it’s a lot of fun to go to regular role players and talk to them as your character. Ask people to collab with you, do trades and make gifts for others!
  • And lastly… ALL HAIL CHIBI KORRA, FOUNDER OF THE ATLA/LOK CHIBI FOUNDATION AND QUEEN OF THE CHIBI ARMY.

That’s all I can think of for now, Good luck to all! If you have any other tips and ideas simply reblog and add to the list!

[You guys! Take a look at this!

I was asked the same question earlier and I never found the time to answer it.

However, my precious baby Howl made an awesome answer that I seriously think it’s perfection~ n3n
